The Babylon Podject Presents: PodSpace9

Content warning for discussion of a virulent plague and denialism by the infected population. In which Franklin behaves like a reasonable scientist (mostly). “Confessions and Lamentations” features Delenn hosting a ritual dinner while Lennier would have rather made Sheridan a peanut butter and flarn sandwich and called it a day, a Pak’ma’ra with pre…

In which we coin the true name of the Shadows: the Z’Ha’Doomed. “In the Shadow of Z’Ha’Dum” features Garibaldi’s excessive use of velcro in his outfit, a top-10 GIF-able moment, and Justen explaining that the Coventry story is really just a myth. In “Knives” (out) Jude explains the mechanics of a swordfight while Ana explains the mechanics of baseball in…

In which we hold the first meeting of the General Hague Memorial Court. “There all the Honor Lies” features Sheridan and Lennier pretending to be in a Dirty Harry movie, Delenn perhaps being more aware of John’s personality than the writer, and our wondering whether humanity has evolved beyond Karens. …

In which we witness the Ivanova Sex Dance in all its glory. In “Acts of Sacrifice” we discuss three flavors of nonintervention (chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla), Ivanova shows us how to do it “Human Style,” and Londo can has a little socialization as a treat. “Hunter, Prey” features some solid Vorlon content, brings the cursed knowledge that Nutrigrain…

In which both Ivanova and Sheridan should be more genre-conscious when speaking in C&C. “GROPOS” teaches us what a swagger stick is, prompts resentment from Jude that Franklin gets decent content, and introduces “Alfredo Garibaldi”, the new Olive Garden pasta special. …

In which we learn how many Minbari it takes to screw in a lightbulb. “Race through Dark Places” introduces a spicy new look for Delenn, Bester’s spam filter, and our confusion about what precisely the value of a credit is in this universe. In “Coming of Shadows” we discuss design considerations for ships that are black on slightly darker black, a cameo…

In which Delenn has a bad hair day. “Spider in the Web” features the introduction of an almost-himbo to the show, Franklin’s befuddlement at the concept of blood transfusions, and revelations that Justen is 100% pro-Muppet and Ana first learned the word “badinage” through B5. …

Haha “Rim”. In which Franklin sucks. “A Distant Star” reminds us that we are all star stuff, highlights the more dubious aspects of hyperspace, and prompts regret that a Earth Alliance exploration ship was named the Cortés. In “The Long Dark”, we have a great performance from Dwight Schultz, an alien monster that really creeps out Ana, and the cast discuss…

In which we all love wizard shit so much that it gets its own standalone episode. In the B plot, the Drazi have a very strange notion of natural selection, and all look stunning in purple. In the beef, nay, the turducken of the episode, technomages make LARPing cool, Michael Ansara sticks the landing with his charisma and acting chops, and the cast…

In which the Podject crew are joined by a guest star: SFF author Cat Valente! Cat shares what she loves about B5 and why it means so much to her, in prose and poetry! She and the crew discuss the show broadly as well as Cat’s recent tweet thread on technology, the Nobel effect, space travel feasibility, Babylon 5, and sci-fi in general. …
